The Saraswathi law College, Chitradurga established in 1965 with zealous enthusiasm of rendering service in the field of legal education to the desiring and deserving. The objective behind the establishment of Law College in Chitradurga is to make quality legal education easily accessible to the needy students of drought prone area of the central Karnataka.
The Institution is the oldest and pioneer law college in the state of Karnataka and one among the top colleges offering legal education in centre Karnataka and enjoys pro-eminent reputation for excellence. From the inception Members of the staff have been effectively moulding the career of the students of this college. Even since its inception it has proved as the best Institution in the University for Maintained Excellent Standard of education with excellent faculty and infrastructure. The college striving hard to empower students with knowledge and confidence which enable them to develop their personality and make them socially responsible citizen with positive attitude. The college is having a good record in academic as well as extra-curricular activities.
This college was commenced by Late Sri T A Reddy Former MLC and run by the eminent personalities like Late Sri. Hanumaiah Advocate, Sri. H Hanumanthappa, Advocate & former Rajyasabha member, Sri Venkata Rao, Advocate, late Sri. A. Vedamurthy Swamy Advocate, Sri. Akki Reddy, Advocate, Sri. C. Abdul Raheem, late Sri Abdul Kaseem, Advocate, Sri. C M Veranna, Advocate, Sri G. Rayanna, Advocate, Late Sri Zahiruddin, Smt. D K Sheela, Advocate and others. The college has been recognized by Bar Council of India and also recognized under 2F and 12B of University Grant Commission since January 10, 2001. The college was affiliated with University of Mysore, Mysore from the date of commencement till 1991, after 1992 to 2008 it was permanently affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamoga, after the establishment of Karnataka State Law University it is affiliated to KSLU from 2009.
Now the college has got permanent affiliation to 3 years as well as 5 Years LLB course. The institution aspires to develop competent law graduates and professionals, who can have a say in correct administration of justice and law in the State. The supreme and matchless ambience and facilities, infrastructure, quality learning process and development that college offers has been the key factor to make it one of the most inspiring law college in India.
